CHBC Prayer List

January 7, 2025

New Prayer Requests

  • Keno King will have surgery today to remove his kidney after being diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma. He will have a repeat scan prior to surgery, along with a chest scan, to check for any metastasis. He will be in hospital at least overnight. Pray for Keno, Johanna and their children as they go through this difficult time.

  • Pam & Curtis Yerby’s neighbor, Glen Morgan, passed away on December 28. Pray for his wife Darlene.

  • Pray for those in our church family who are battling illness, loneliness, or grief this holiday season.

Ongoing Requests

  • Pray for former members, Denny & Kevin Shaws, who are mourning the loss of their daughter, Katie, who passed away on Christmas.

  • Pray for Justin and Ashley Somers’ family. Ashley’s father passed away 12/07/2024 and the home they live in has been sold. Pray for guidance for their family as they seek a new home and what the Lord has next for their family.

  • Pray for a recent guest of our church service, Tamara. Tamara has recently lost her job and her husband has kidney disease. Pray that God will provide for their family through this difficult trial.

  • Pray for the salvation of Scott Sanbar’s son, Tyler, and Tyler’s girlfriend, Kayla.

  • Pray for the Weigand’s friends who are workers in North Africa. They lost their home sending church and need to find a new one but travel and ministry difficulties make it hard to return to the states to build that support system back up. Pray for the Lord to provide answers and support according to His will.

  • Velta Zoeller’s 13-year-old grandson, Griffin, lacks one growth hormone. Another one is very low. Please pray for proper treatment as he enters puberty. 

  • Tia Philbin is taking legal action in a very traumatic situation that she experienced in the past. She is asking for strength and peace during the process as well as justice to be served.

  • Paul Christy is serving in the Air Force in Italy. Pray for community and strength for him as he’s away for the next few years. 

  • Pray for those in our church family who are looking for new jobs.

  • Keaire Wilkins (Sheireka's son) needs prayer.

  • Pray for wisdom for John Daniels as he cares for Sharon.

  • Please pray for Lynda Ramsey’s daughter and son’s salvation. That God would give her son, Donald, a message that would bring him to His Word and to Himself. Pray that her daughter would be delivered from depression.

  • Pray for Beverly Hite’s grandson, Michael (age 20), that God would intervene and draw him back into a relationship with the Lord and with his family.

  • Pray for the people of Israel and the Middle East. Pray that Christ would be made known, pray for peace in and around Israel, pray for the protection of innocents in the entire area. Continue to pray for those working to spread the Good News in the midst of this crisis.

Hospitalizations and Illnesses

  • Please pray for Matt Mahler’s cousin, Stephen, who has been diagnosed with a tumor on his brain stem. He will meet with a neurosurgeon in early January to plan next steps. Stephen and his wife, Lindsay, have two kids (anges 11 & 13) and live in DFW.

  • Charlotte Wittner has a liver growth and cystic lesion on her pancreas. Sam has several health issues as well. Pray for their healing.

  • Tom Clanton’s nephew, Mike Wright, never goes to the doctor. Now he’s learned he has cancer in his colon, liver, and brain, and basically everywhere. He is a Christian. 

  • The Boyers’ neighbor, Alan Wick, had open heart surgery on December 26. Pray for his healing. 

  • Tara Sageser had another episode on December 18 of imbalance, dizziness, and blurry vision. She recovered in four days. Her doctor released her, and she is back at work. Pray for wisdom in finding the cause of these spells. 

  • Please pray for Kathy Quillin as she is healing after a full knee replacement with straightening of her leg. She has been dealing with various areas that are setting her recovery behind. Pray for strength and endurance as she works with her physical therapist.

  • Sherrill Sageser had his stimulator programmed and learned he’s using a lot of energy from it. He will need to charge it every two days. The program can be adjusted to help his back pain. 

  • Cathy Burris had a CT scan of her brain shunt last week. The shunt is positioned and functioning properly. Pray for her continuing good health.

  • Pray for Tanya Fobasso’s parents health and well that God would provide exactly what her family needs.

  • Charline DeWitt’s friend had a heart attack and is in the hospital in Arizona. Please pray for her full recovery. Charline and Dennis are also thankful for all the prayers, cards, and encouragement in his ongoing recovery.

  • Debbie Weir’s esophagus is causing her difficulty in eating. Pray she receives correct treatment. 

  • Mary Kitchell’s sister in Texas, Jane Rogers, has many health problems and is under palliative care at this time. Please pray for her family. 

  • Pat Boyer will see a hand specialist about her carpal tunnel on January 22. Surgery or treatment will be in February. Pray that her hand pain is manageable.

  • Nell Head may also have a torn meniscus as well as back pain. Pray for relief. 

  • Shelby Byrd is having hip issues. Pray for healing and provision for him. 

  • Debbie Weir is still having heart issues after her previous procedure. 

  • Madi Grogan has been in ongoing pain for a while. Pray for guidance for the doctors as they look for the causes of Madi’s pain and a solution that will bring healing to her body. Pray for peace for her mind, as well as endurance and comfort for her family.

  • Evan and Levi Prince’s friend, Jeremy P., has stomach cancer. Be in prayer for him as he and his doctors decide on treatments.

  • Sam Wittner is suffering with arthritis. Charlotte is aware that she is having some issues with dementia.

  • Robert Manning’s daughter, Shelly Leaf, has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Pray for Shelly and her doctors.

  • Katie MacDougall is undergoing treatment for her lung disease. Please continue praying this treatment would reduce inflammation, slow disease progression, and reduce the need for more unpleasant treatment options as well as wisdom for her pulmonary teams at Mayo and OU. 

  • Carol and Johnny Just’s granddaughter Marek Merideth. Earlier this month her MRI indicated that the brain tumor remains stable.   She has completed the oral chemo protocol so was taken off the medicine.  It had significant side effects so I'm sure her quality of life will be improved but we still need prayer the tumor does not grow!

  • Johnny and Carol Just’s son-in-law, Mitch Merideth, had a heart transplant in 2016. He continues to struggle with health problems and other problems related to liver failure. Also, it was discovered he has a heart valve that was damaged from the multiple biopsies done to monitor transplant rejection, which may need surgical intervention in the future. The accumulation of stress has taken a toll on their marriage. Pray for mercy and peace.

  • Members with continuing health concerns: Karen Davis, Jim Davis, Kevin Fox, David Spiva, Cameron Frank, Cathy Burris, Michelle Hawkins’ brother, Mark Manning, Frazier’s nephew and his wife; Greg and Sarah Frazier, Glenda Phillips, Sherrill Sageser, Sam Wittner, Charlotte Wittner, Sharon Daniels, Belinda Yesslith.

Missions and Ministry Requests

  • Pray for our country and elected leaders.

  • Hannah and Ben Hanes are missionaries serving in the Bronx in NYC.

  • Logan & Morgan Hanni & their sons, Liam & Grayson, are serving a 3-year term as IMB missionaries to Southeast Asia. Please pray for their travel, language learning and cultural adjustment. Pray for unreached people groups in Southeast Asia to come to a saving faith in Jesus.

  • De’Vonte’ Pittman is serving on the mission field in North Africa. He will be there at least a year. Pray for him and for the people groups with whom he will be sharing the gospel.

  • Pray the congregation at Northeast Fellowship, that they would grow in their love for God and each other. Pray for their community, specifically for the new people moving to their community that the Lord would use their church to reach them with the gospel and equip them to meet their physical needs. Let everything they do/plan be devotional, and draw them closer to the Lord.

Praises

  • Praise God for all He is doing in our church and community.

  • Don Cude did well after surgery and is recuperating at home.

  • Jim Davis fell and broke his hip and femur. The surgeon inserted a rod from his hip to his knee. Jim is home and came to church on Sunday. 

CHBC Lexington Chapel Service Prayer requests

  • Rusty—This man is being released after 20 years in prison, on Jan 31st.  Pray for him as the date approaches, and he rejoins his wife, children, and grandchildren out in the world.  Rusty has been instrumental in arranging special weekly worship opportunities inside A&R for former law enforcement who are now incarcerated, however whom require maximum security for their safety.  He is a member of this group of individuals.  Pray that he would continue to rely fully on Christ as he makes his way forward.  And pray for the weekly service, supported by CHBC, to continue after he is released.
